To provide our core features—such as blocking distractions and locking your device during focus sessions—the App requires certain device permissions and processes specific data locally on your device.

A. Local Data & App Settings

Profile and Session Data: The App asks for your name and tracks your focus sessions, break times, and app settings. All of this data (including your "League" progression and history) is stored locally using your device's internal storage (SharedPreferences). We do not transmit, sync, or back up this data to any external servers. If you uninstall the app or clear the app data, this information will be permanently deleted.

B. Sensitive Device Permissions

To function as a strict productivity tool, Deep Work OS requests the following sensitive permissions. None of the data accessed via these permissions is ever transmitted off your device.

Notification Access (Notification Listener Service):

• Why we need it: We use this permission to power the "Focus Shield" feature. This allows the App to intercept and silence incoming notifications (like messages and calls) while your focus timer is running.
• Data processed: The App reads notification package names, titles, and text strictly to display them in a custom, non-distracting in-app overlay. This data is processed locally in your device's memory and is never saved to a database, sent to the internet, or shared with third parties.

Display Over Other Apps (Overlay Permission):

• Why we need it: We use this to display the focus timer, alerts, and intercepted notifications on top of your screen, ensuring you stay committed to your deep work session even if you try to open another app.

Do Not Disturb (DND) Access:

• Why we need it: This allows the App to automatically toggle your phone's silent mode and block system sounds when a focus session or "Strict Mode" begins, and restore them when the session ends.

3. Third-Party Services and Advertising

While Deep Work OS does not collect personal data, we use third-party services to serve advertisements and support the development of the App.

Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to display banner, interstitial, native, and rewarded advertisements. AdMob may automatically collect certain non-personally identifiable information, such as:

• Your device's Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID).
• Device make, model, and operating system.
• Network and usage data related to your interactions with ads.

4. Audio and Network Usage

The App accesses the internet solely to stream premium sound effects (e.g., alarm and interval tones) from external servers (such as Mixkit) and to load advertisements via AdMob. We do not track your audio preferences outside of your local device storage.

Deep Work OS is a general audience application and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to ensure any local data is cleared.

Because all user-generated data (session history, names, app preferences) is kept locally on your device, it is secured by the Android operating system's standard application sandboxing.
